A few things to know
Terms of use.
Gutbean is a food and symptom diary from Praelion Ltd, made to help you keep a personal record.
1. A diary, not a medical service
Gutbean does not diagnose, treat or prevent illness and is not a substitute for professional medical advice. A pattern in a diary does not prove that a food caused a symptom. Don’t change treatment or restrict foods solely because of an app entry or insight. Seek qualified advice for health concerns.
2. Your entries and optional AI
You are responsible for checking what you save and share. AI can be inaccurate, including about ingredients, portions, symptoms and times. It is not an allergen-checking or clinical decision tool.
Optional AI requires separate explicit consent and an active premium entitlement, including a qualifying trial. Usage caps are planned: by default, 30 text requests and 10 photo requests per day. The app will explain current limits and the reset time zone. Android AI is unavailable until device-integrity support is implemented and tested. Read about AI processing.
3. Free and premium features
Manual logging, food search, barcode lookup, calendar, check-ins and backup are planned to remain free. Premium is planned to include AI entry, full insights and PDF export. Availability may depend on your device, software version and internet connection.
4. Subscriptions and trial
Planned UK pricing is £4.99 per month or £29.99 per year, with a 7-day free trial for eligible users. There is no lifetime plan. The price, billing period, eligibility and terms shown in Apple’s purchase confirmation govern your purchase.
A subscription renews automatically unless cancelled before the renewal deadline shown by Apple. For Apple free or discounted trials, cancel at least 24 hours before the trial ends. Follow the deadline shown during signup. Manage or cancel through your Apple subscription settings; deleting Gutbean or withdrawing AI consent does not cancel a subscription. Apple handles billing and refund requests under its applicable policies, without affecting your statutory rights.
5. Your data and backups
Your diary is stored on your device. Keep your own backups if you want to preserve it. Removing the app, losing a device or deleting data can remove local records. We cannot restore a diary we do not hold. See the draft privacy policy for optional cloud processing.
6. Using the service fairly
Don’t bypass usage limits, misuse the AI service, attempt unauthorised access, or submit material you have no right to share. We may restrict cloud requests where reasonably necessary to protect the service or meet legal obligations.
7. Availability and your rights
Online features may be unavailable during outages or maintenance. We will use reasonable care and skill in providing the service. Nothing in these terms excludes liability that cannot lawfully be excluded or removes your statutory consumer rights.
Material changes affecting a paid service will be communicated with any notice and remedies required by law. The proposed governing law is the law of England and Wales, without removing mandatory consumer protections or rights to bring proceedings where you live. Final jurisdiction wording remains subject to legal review.
